PLASTIC BUTTON

Here is another type of plastic button in a grey colour with a metallic finish. It is from the 1950’s and was made in Italy. It is large at 4 cm with an undulating linear design.

SATSUMA BUTTON

This is a traditional hand painted Satsuma porcelain button from Japan. It shows four Oriental ladies and has a lot of gold paintwork decorating their costumes. It also has a gold border and measures 2 1/4 cm.

PLASTIC BUTTONS

Both of these buttons come from the 1950’s and were made in Italy. They are quite chunky and both of a red colour. They are some type of plastic, one being a sew through, the other has a self shank.

LACY GLASS BUTTON

Here is a lacy glass button. It is clear moulded glass which has been painted yellow on the back and a final coat of gold which shows through to the front. The moulded glass has a lacy pattern. It measures just over 2 cm. The photo does not do it justice.

BAKELITE BUTTON

Here is yet another carved bakelite button in a dark brown colour. It has a brass filigree escutcheon on which a green stone has been set. It measures a little over 4 cm. and has a metal loop shank.

BUTTON CARD

Here is an original complete button card of Fashionable Buttons made in Australia. They are black pressed plastic buttons from the 1930’s. I like the many different patterns that were pressed into these type of buttons.

ENAMEL BUTTON

Here is an enamelled brass button with a floral design on a background of green and white. The border is set with cut steels which give it a glitzy look. It measures a little over 2 1/2 cm.

PLASTIC BUTTONS

Here are five modern plastic buttons probably made in Thailand. They are from the 1990’s and each one has sparkly inclusions in its design. They were quite popular at that time.

SATSUMA BUTTON

This Satsuma porcelain button has a bottle green background and is painted in lovely bright colours, mainly blue, yellow and green. It depicts two Oriental figures with some blossom surrounding them. It measures just on 3 cm.

ENAMEL BUTTON

This metal button has a floral enamelled border which is quite different. The inner section has a lovely brass scrolly leaf design which stands out nicely against the darker metal. It measures 3 1/2cm. It is new to my collection.
