Here is an enamelled brass button with a floral design on a background of green and white. The border is set with cut steels which give it a glitzy look. It measures a little over 2 1/2 cm.
PLASTIC BUTTONS
Here are five modern plastic buttons probably made in Thailand. They are from the 1990’s and each one has sparkly inclusions in its design. They were quite popular at that time.
SATSUMA BUTTON
This Satsuma porcelain button has a bottle green background and is painted in lovely bright colours, mainly blue, yellow and green. It depicts two Oriental figures with some blossom surrounding them. It measures just on 3 cm.
ENAMEL BUTTON
This metal button has a floral enamelled border which is quite different. The inner section has a lovely brass scrolly leaf design which stands out nicely against the darker metal. It measures 3 1/2cm. It is new to my collection.
MODERN BUTTONS
These three buttons were bought in Japan in 2009 for me by my sister in law which was a nice surprise. They are different in colour and design and have a really modern look about them. I am not sure what they are made of.
METAL BUTTONS
Here are three brass buttons with a similar make up. They have completely different designs but are all hollow at the back. They are all sew through type and measure 2 1/2 cm.
GAY NINETIES BUTTON
This Gay Nineties button is quite different being of open brass work with a lovely green oval stone set in the middle. There are two very fine filigree sections on either side.
SCOTTIE DOG BUTTONS
This is a nice little group of realistic dog buttons given to me by my special friend Suzanne for my birthday in 2003. One is a tiny enamelled metal button and two are black plastic. I really love the red tartan sew through one.
METAL BUTTONS
Here are two nice brass buttons with paintwork in two shades of blue. They are ball shaped, the back being plain brass with a brass loop shank.
GAY NINETIES BUTTON
This button is of brass with a japanned tin back. The purple “jewel” is surrounded by a very decorative border which then has another border in a rope like fashion. It is a very showy button and measures just over 4 cm.
