PLASTIC BUTTON

Here is a modern plastic button with an ” eye like ” pattern in the centre. It is a sew through type and measures 3 1/4cm so is quite large. It would be used on an overcoat I presume.

CERAMIC BUTTONS

These four buttons are handmade Ceramic and really do have a rustic handmade look about them They have even been sewn onto the card with homespun wool which gives a good effect. I don’t know who they were made by and got them at an opp shop.

BLACK GLASS BUTTONS

Here are two black glass buttons. One has a flower in the centre with silver lustre. The other has a scrolly pattern. I don’t seem to be able to get a good photo of black glass which is a pity as there are some very lovely buttons. They always seem to be blurry.

PLASTIC BUTTONS

Here are three Plastic ( I believe they are Casein ) buttons in red and white. They all have a geometric design and are rather jazzy. I think they are from the 1940’s.

CELLULOID BUTTONS

Here are two Buffed Celluloid buttons with the same bunch of grapes design only with a different colour. They have been painted and then rubbed back to reveal the cream colour and have a self shank.

PORCELAIN BUTTONS

Here are four handcrafted porcelain buttons made by Tracey Sharkey from Australia in 2007. They all have a floral theme and are quite pretty.

CERAMIC BUTTONS

Here are two Ceramic buttons depicting peacock feathers. They are very colourful and are glazed onto a terracotta ground. They are sew through type and measure 2 1/4 cm.

CELLULOID BACK BUTTONS

Here are two more Celluloid back buttons with browny/fawn celluloid. It is combined with metal which has been tinted purple ( quite an unusual combination ) They are both very nice buttons and as common with many celluloid buttons they have a Japanned back and a loop shank and measure 3 1/2cm.

CELLULOID BACK BUTTONS

These two Celluloid back buttons both have celluloid in a fawny/brown colour. They each have a very delicate metal decoration; one with a floral theme, the other in the form of a floral border. I feel they are both very nice buttons.

METAL BUTTON

Here is a painted tin button with a floral design in metallic paint in the centre. The decorative border finishes it off nicely. It measures 2 1/4 cm.
