METAL PICTURE BUTTON

This is one of my favourite metal picture buttons and it is called “Woodland Vows” It depicts a man and a lady carving their initials in a tree. It is made of brass, part being tinted purple. It has a white metal rim inside the decorative border and measures 3 1/2 cm. The back is Japanned tin with a metal loop shank.

GAY NINETIES BUTTON

Here is a button from the 1890’s made of brass which has been tinted with a purple glass “jewel”. It has a pretty design and a decorative border and measures just over 3 1/2 cm.

PINE NEEDLE BASKET

This small lidded basket is woven with pine needles and raffia. It is a rather fiddly thing to do but comes up nicely. I did not make this one but have had a go at it. My mum learnt to make them at C.W.A. many years ago.

GLASS BUTTONS

Here is a nice little group of modern glass buttons featuring animals and birds. Their designs are simple and fascinating. Some are moulded and two are incised. They make a nice set.

MOTHER OF PEARL BUTTON

Here is a Mother of Pearl button which has been nicely shaped on the front. It is a sew through type with four holes and is perfectly plain on the back.

WOODEN BUTTON

This is a nicely designed pressed wood button with a floral theme. Unfortunately the paint work is a little worn but it still has a certain charm. It measures 2 1/2 cm.

PLASTIC BUTTON

This button is 3 1/2 cm in diameter and is of black plastic with a grey/blue triangle of Celluloid in the middle. It is a sew through type and probably from the 1930’s. I guess it is an overcoat button.

GLASS BUTTONS

Here are three different coloured glass buttons with the same squirly lines of bright colours painted on them. They are very effective and would brighten up any garment. They have self shanks.

WOODEN BUTTON

This hand painted wooden button has a sort of Art Nouveau floral design. The pattern has been pressed into the wood and it has a basket weave type textured background. The paintwork is in a reasonably good condition.

GLASS BUTTONS

Here are two very pretty oval shaped glass buttons. They have a flower painted on a white ground in the centre. The outside spaces have been painted blue which compliments the pink flower nicely. They have a self shank.
