Here is a set of Lithograph Men’s Waistcoat buttons which would have originally been six buttons. They feature a fox’s head and perhaps go under the category of sporting buttons. I have had them for a long time.

I have just realized that I posted the Peasant Buttons about a month ago! It is amazing that I don’t do it more often as I post a photo on Instagram, my website and Button Banter so that is three different sites. Never mind, it could be worse. So my apologies for this error.

This is a set of European Silver Peasant Jacket buttons which are coinlike and dated 1780. The coin is a Thaler which was originally struck in Austria from 1740 to 1780. They show the reverse of the actual coin as a combined Coat of Arms of Imperial Austria. Around the edge is written ARCHID-AVST DUX BURG CO TYR 1780 X. It is Latin and translates to Archduchess of Austria, Duchess of Burgundy, Countess of Tyrol which is the Grand Title of Maria Theresa who is on the front of the actual coin.

This is a rather unusual button being wound with brown leather around two rings. In the centre is a metal flower and leaves. It has a tin back and shank and measures a little under 4 cm so is quite large. I imagine it was on a brown leather coat.

This red plastic is probably from the 1940s – 50s. It has a nice floral design and I imagine it may have come in a variety of colours. Although simple in design it is quite a nice button and would go well on a crisp cotton fabric.

Here are three buttons covered with Japanese fabric. I bought them new at a market quite a few years ago. One shows a couple of Geisha dolls and the others are typical Japanese prints in bright colours. They have a tin back and metal loop shank.

Here is a group of plastic realistic cherry buttons which I have just recently purchased new at Spotlight Store. They would be more a craft button and are a sew through type although I suppose they could be used on a simple cotton dress with a little bit of red in it.

These two handpainted bone buttons show a pair of birds. I believe that they are Camel bone and come from Iran. They are very small at 1 cm. I thought they were at least 2 cm so was quite surprised when they came in the mail and were so small.

Here is a Caramel glass button with a moulded floral design. It has had white paint highlighting it originally which is now quite worn. It measures a little over 2 1/2 cm. It is new to my collection.

These two bakelite buttons were a recent gift. They are both dark brown and carved. One has a brass decorative disc in the centre. The other has a white metal feather. They both have a very large metal loop shank.
