Here is a plastic button with a tin centre which has a geometric design pressed into and painted on it. I think the colours are very complimentary. It is a showy button and measures 4 cm.

APPLEJUICE BAKELITE BUTTONS
Here are two different Applejuice Bakelite buttons both being about 3 1/2 cm in diameter.
They have both been carved, one on the reverse side with paint added. The sew through one is a little darker. They are the colour of applejuice hence the name.
BUFFED CELLULOID BUTTONS
I love the bright colours of these buffed celluloid buttons. They have a pressed design which has been painted. It is then buffed back leaving paint only in the hollows. It is a very effective method of making them. They all have a typical celluloid shank.
METAL PICTURE BUTTON
The orange plastic disc really offsets this Brass Picture button. I do not think it is originally part of the button but that is how I bought it. It features an Oriental lady with a fan, cherry blossom and some Japanese symbols.
The overall diameter is 6 cm. I bought it at The Buttonfest held in Melbourne recently.
LITHOGRAPH BUTTON
This button is a little under 4 cm so quite large. I do not know who the person is but he looks rather scholarly. It has a brass rim and tin back with loop shank.
CELLULOID BUTTON
This Celluloid button is chunky and oval shaped with a cut away design making it quite striking. It has a metal loop shank.
CELLULOID BUTTONS
Here are three Wafer Celluloid buttons all of the same colour and size. They have two layers of different colours and the design is cut away to reveal the beige colour underneath. They measure 3 1/2cm.
PLASTIC BUTTON
I think this button may be made from Casein. It caught my eye and I feel it is cute, the white rabbit showing up nicely on the black background. It looks better in reality.
BLACK GLASS BUTTONS
I do like black glass buttons and although I have quite a lot I couldn’t leave these ones at the recent Buttonfest. They were cheap and in good order. Some of them have an Art Deco look while the others are a more scrolly design.
CELLULOID BUTTON
Here is an interesting Celluloid button in an Ochre type colour. Many Celluloid buttons were earthy colours. Maybe they were the colours of the 1930’s – 40’s period.
It is made of a moulded sheet of Celluloid and has no backing. It is a sew through type button and measures 3 1/2 cm.
