This button is covered with black woollen fabric and has some stitchery in the middle. The back is completely covered with fabric so has no shank as such. It has been very well made and I think it may be quite old.

METAL BUTTONS
These buttons are of metal with a filigree type outer pattern.
They are modern and my friend got them in an English opp shop. They have a loop shank and measure just over 2 1/2 cm.

My friend found these fabric covered buttons in an opp shop in England recently.
The mauve and white one has the back covered with material which is a little unusual. The brown and mustard one has a tin back and wire shank. It is fun to have buttons from opp shops in another country.
CELLULOID BUTTON
Here is a jazzy celluloid button in a fawn colour with a brown section with white spots. It is not very big at approx 2 cm X 1 cm. I think it would really enhance a garment in neutral or earthy colours.
BUTTON CARD
This button card is headed “Fashionable Buttons” and was made in England.
My friend Margaret got it at an opp shop recently while on holidays in England. That makes it a little bit special for me. It is always nice to find buttons on their original card.
PLASTIC BUTTONS
These two buttons are new to my collection having come from an opp shop in England recently.
The red and cream one has been layered and cut away giving a great effect. It is a sew through type. (I think it may be from Casein) The cream one is a different design completely and has a self shank.
GLASS BUTTONS
Here are three pretty light green glass buttons with a silver lustre design in the middle. They are 1 1/2cm in diameter and have a self shank.

BUTTONS FROM ENGLAND – BAKELITE
I like these Applejuice bakelite buttons with a black centre. Although they are plain they look elegant to me. They are 2 cm in diameter.
BUTTONS FROM ENGLAND
My friend Margaret has been on holidays in England for three months. She has been on the search for buttons in opp shops for me.
What a lovely surprise for me to find a 1kg parcel on my doorstep and yes it was buttons plus a couple of extras. I had great fun going through them choosing what to keep and Margaret will use the others on her sewing projects.
FABRIC BUTTON
This domed button has thread and braid in a chocolate brown colour wrapped around a mould and topped with beading.
It is very dressy and would grace any appropriate outfit. It is a more modern button with a plastic back and shank.
