METAL BUTTON

This realistic metal flower button comes from Thailand and was bought there by my friend Lek. It is gilded in gold but the photo does not show it off at it’s best.

PLASTIC BUTTON

This plastic button in black and blue/grey is quite striking I feel. It features a flower design in the centre and is a sew through type button. It measures 4 cm so is quite large.

CERAMIC BUTTONS

Here is a trio of modern ceramic buttons in earthy tones and geometric design. I think the simple design and colours are very pleasing. They have a natural handmade look about them.

VEGETABLE IVORY BUTTONS

I believe that these Vegetable Ivory buttons are fairly old. They both have a simple silhouette in black showing a figure in a landscape. The painting is done in a naive fashion which really is their charm. They measure 2 1/2 cm.

GLASS BUTTON

This is a white glass button which has been painted brown and then rubbed back to reveal the design of a mill and waterwheel. It has been moulded and the design stands out nicely. It has a metal loop shank.

FABRIC BUTTON

I bought this button in 2018 when it was new. It is covered with a nice and bright Japanese fabric. I love the combination of orange, teal, purple and mustard which is accented in gold. It measures just over 3 cm. It appears duller in the photo.

CELLULOID BUTTONS

Here are three buffed celluloid buttons each with a floral design. They have been painted and rubbed back to reveal the cream colour. They are in yellows and browns and make a nice group. Good colours for Autumn!

CUT STEEL BUTTON

This is a brass button trimmed with Cut Steels in various sizes. It has a metal plate on the back to which the steels are rivetted individually. They sparkle nicely in the light. It measures 3 1/2 cm so is quite large.

CELLULOID BUTTONS

Both these Celluloid buttons are in a grey and cream colour scheme. They also are both trimmed with brass; one having a central square with a flower design and the other with nine small brass squares with a star design. They are simple in design but quite nice. They have a japanned back and measure a little over 2 1/2 cm.

PLASTIC BUTTONS

Here are two plastic ( I think they may be Casein ) buttons of the same design but in different colours. They are square and have been dyed and then cut away to reveal the cream colour. I suggest that they are Art Deco style. They measure a little under 2 cm.
