PORCELAIN BUTTON

I love this little Porcelain button with a portrait of a young lady on it. It is so delicately done and the colours are superb. You cannot really see in the photo the very delicate blue of the dress which is the complimentary colour to the ochre background. It measures just 1 1/2 cm.

MOTHER OF PEARL BUTTONS

Here are two more MOP buttons; one with carving and cut steel decoration. The other one is plain Mother of Pearl set in brass with a decorative trim in the centre. They are both nice in their own way.

MOTHER OF PEARL BUTTONS

Here are two different MOP buttons. One is carved in a star design and trimmed with cut steels. The other one is also carved but set in a decorative brass border. They are quite large.

PERSPEX BUTTONS

Here are two groups of Clear Perspex buttons from my collection. They mainly have metal centres with various designs on them. A few have metalized plastic centres. They are in varied sizes, none really small.

FABRIC BUTTON

This is an old Fabric covered button and the fabric is sort of Tapestry type in a burgandy colour. It has a threadback which was quite common in the early 1900s or late 1800s. I am not sure how old this button is but I like it.

BEADED BUTTONS

These two buttons are beaded in bright colours on a black velvet background in a geometric type of design. They are modern and I believe made in India. They were in the Haberdashery shops several years ago and I have a few of them. They would take some time to make. I guess they were made for the Western market.

BEADED BUTTON

This brightly coloured beaded button was made by Helen Pappas who now lives near Benalla in Victoria. It is just done in a simple geometric design but that is the beauty of it. The colours are much richer in reality. It measures a little over 3 cm.

FABRIC BUTTONS

These Fabric buttons all have had a shiny thread wound around probably a wooden mould then woven over in a courser thread to form a pattern In three cases they have used a contrasting colour which makes them quite effective. I have a small box full of the wooden moulds in my collection.

ENAMEL BUTTONS

These Enamel buttons were given to me by a lady who bought them in Satsuma, Japan in 1974 when there on holidays. They are a brilliant blue with bamboo pictured on them in gold. The Obi fabric they are mounted on was given to me by a friend. They make quite a nice display I think .

MORE OPP SHOP FINDS

I like the colour of these buttons from the Opp Shop. They are black with a sort of maroon pattern on them. They are plastic of some type but still look quite smart and are similar to some I have that were made in Thailand.
