GLASS BUTTON

Here is a red glass button of 2  1/2cm in diameter.

It has a beautiful design of two flowers in an oblong shape with an arc of silver lustre lines to one side.  It has a sort of Art Deco feel about it.  I often think of who must have designed all the thousands of buttons that are available.  I think this one is really effective but it doesn’t show it at it’s best in the photo.

GLASS BUTTONS

Here are three pretty light green glass buttons with a silver lustre design in the middle.  They are 1  1/2cm in diameter and have a self shank.

My friend got them in an opp shop in England recently for me.

GLASS BUTTONS

These clear glass buttons all have reverse painted designs which show through to the front.

The design is cut out on the back of the button and then painted.  They are very effective and it is nice to have some with the paint work in a decent condition.

GLASS BUTTONS

Here are three light blue glass buttons with silver lustre.

I have seen this button design in different colours.  They have a self shank and measure approx. 2 cm.

GLASS BUTTON

This button is of brown glass and moulded with the design.  Three different colours have been painted on to give a good effect.  It has a self shank.

GLASS BUTTONS

These quaint little clear glass buttons have tiny imitation yellow flowers embedded in them.

They are domed giving a magnified look and are lovely and bright.  The shanks are glued to the back and they measure a little under 1   1/2 cm.

GLASS BUTTONS

Since my post of 10th January, 2018, I have been able to get a lot more Grant Featherston glass buttons.

I have just lined a box with green velvet to display them in.  The coloured ones seem to be harder to find.  I am pleased with my collection but there is always the hope of finding another button.

GLASS BUTTONS

These square buttons are small, all being under 1 cm.  The first ones have a bright coloured design on a white background.

The second group have a delicate pastel shade simple pattern on them.

BIMINI GLASS BUTTON

Many glass buttons were made by the Bimini Company in England in the 1950’s.

This button is a nice example being a lovely greeny/blue colour with a gold lustre which was also common on these buttons.  There is a brass round plate and shank applied to the back with a MADE IN ENGLAND backmark.
