This brass button has chips of Turquoise stone set into it. It has a loop shank and measures 1 1/2 cm. I have only two buttons with turquoise set into them. I don’t know if this button was made in India; it may have been !

Here are three modern plastic buttons in lovely bright colours. They all have stripes around them in complimentary colours. I bought them new in 2007.

Here are two carved bakelite buttons in a sort of khaki colour. One has a black glass with silver lustre centre in a moulded pattern. The other has a brass filigree centrepiece which is very finely done. They are both just over 4 cm in diameter and have a metal loop shank. I guess they would be overcoat buttons.

Here is a Beauclaire button card displaying blue pearlized plastic fish eye buttons. On the back it says that the buttons are tested and approved by the Dry Cleaners and Dyer’s Association of N.S.W. Hasn’t displaying and advertising changed so much over the years.

Here are four glass realistic buttons depicting parrots. They are of blue glass with yellow paint added and were made in Germany. They would not be a very practical button because of the shape but are different.

This card is The Princess Buttons made in England. They are made from Pure Irish Linen and the size is 24 lines which measures 15 mm. It is interesting to see the style of advertising on this card.

This is a Latest Style original button card with twelve hexagonal shaped paste buttons which measure 1 cm. Twelve buttons was a common number to sell on cards back then. How things have changed.

The black “jewel” in this button sets it off nicely. The button is brass with a very decorative design and a narrow “pleated” border. It measures 3 1/2cm. It is from the late 1890’s.

Here is a black octagon shaped bakelite button. It has a realistic brass leaf adorning it which is very showy. It is a chunky button and has a metal loop shank. It is new to my collection.

Here is a modern metal button which has been enamelled in black. The central decoration has red, green and yellow trim with an imitation clear glass stone in the middle. It is quite a striking button.
