This is a pretty black glass button with silver lustre in the shape of a flower and a “diamond” in the centre which sets it off nicely. It has a self shank and measures 2 cm.

POPPY PICTURE
I did this picture many years ago. I painted the poppies onto calico and then did some machine embroidery enhanced with some hand stitchery. After putting the mount around with coloured pencils I extended the painting onto it which I thought was a good effect. It measures approximately 20 cm x 25 cm.
TEXTILE ART
Here are two framed pictures which I made several years ago. I wanted to try something a little more “way out” than the traditional stitchery I was used to. I am pleased with the result as the different colours and textures of materials and threads work well.
PLASTIC BUTTON
This plastic button is of a mustard colour with grooves radiating out from the centre. It has a brass pin shank with a small ball on top and measures 1 1/2 cm.
BLACK GLASS BUTTONS
Here are four black glass buttons with a lustre of different colours on each of them. They are quite small at 1 1/4 cm. They are rather pretty but do not show off at their best in the photos.
BUTTON GROUP
Our little Button Collector’s group got together on Friday 27th September. Our challenge was for different shaped buttons. We came up with quite a few of various materials. As usual we had a lovely afternoon. Here are some of them.
METALIZED PLASTIC BUTTONS
These three buttons are from 1990’s, 2000’s onwards. They are metalized plastic each having a cream centrepiece and are completely different in design.
WOOL EMBROIDERY PINCUSHIONS
Here are two more pincushions which I have done with wool on canvas. The floral one is done in mainly colonial knots, pinwheel and daisy like stitches completely covering it. I show the back of this one also. The other one is also knots in squares with fine ribbon threaded in between. They are both very effective and were fun to do.
FLOWER GARDEN PINCUSHION
How about some embroidery for a change. My friend Suzanne and I had fun doing this project together. We only had a black and white photocopy of the sample in the shop to work from plus some notes we had made while there. The different threads, ribbons, beads and stitches add to the texture and feel of the garden. It is quite unique.
CERAMIC BUTTONS
Here are two completely different Ceramic buttons. Both are rather chunky, one being maroon and the other a soft green. They are modern buttons.
