All things buttons & more …

These two buttons are of the same design but different colours. The shield like feature is painted on in gold on one and silver on the other. They measure 3 1/2cm.

These four buttons have a look of the 1930’s – 40’s. They are made of red plastic encased in tin leaving a square opening. They are simple in design but would look very showy on the right garment.

Here are four white metal buttons (they appear to be pewter but I am not sure) with a design similar to the Snowflake design pewter buttons from Norway in the 1960’s and 70’s. Well that is what they remind me of. They are a nicely made button.

This Plastic button is large at just over 4 cm. It is of a mottley grey colour with holes scooped out of it in a circular pattern. It would have been an overcoat button I think and maybe from the 1950’s.

Here is a lovely Cherry red button made of a snake skin like patterned outer encircling a vinyl domed centre. The back is of tin. It would have graced a coat in the same colour.

Both of these buttons are very chunky and heavy and are modern. They were given to me by my friend Suzanne in 2015. They are of white metal and have a self shank and would need a strong fabric to be sewn on; probably overcoat buttons.

Here is a large button at 4 1/4cm. It is a lovely cherry red and a sew through type. The design is effective with contrasting smooth and embossed type areas. It is old but in good order.

This button was also given to me by a friend. I am guessing that it may have been made in Thailand as I have some of a similar style. It is black plastic with pink metalic inclusions so is quite colourful. It measures 3 cm.

Here is a bright yellow glass button with a design in gold lustre making it very appealing. Yellow was not a common colour for buttons years ago. It has a self shank and measures just over 1 1/2cm.

Here are two Black Glass look alike buttons made from plastic. The design is so similar to many of the early 1900’s Black Glass buttons. They are small at just over 1 cm.
