CASEIN BUTTONS

I believe these rectangular shaped two toned buttons are made from Casein. They are rather striking with the cream and brown contrasting colours.

PLASTIC WITH METAL BUTTON

This is a large button measuring just over 4 cm. It is made from a white pearly plastic and has a white metal escutcheon in the form of a shield. It has a metal loop shank

VINCONA BUTTON SHEET : 1996 – 97

This is a Sales Rep Button Sample Card from 1996 – 97 which dates the buttons pictured. They are made of various materials with many different designs. I got them from an Opp shop in Euroa. Vincona Pty. Ltd. is an Australian company.

PLASTIC BUCKLES

Here are four old plastic dress buckles. One has some carving which makes it more interesting. In the 1940’s – 50’s many women made their own dresses a lot of which had belts requiring a buckle. These are plain but are nice shapes.

PIN CUSHION

This pin cushion was another one of my sewing projects some years back. It was just a bit of fun. A wooden tape measure and needle case are pictured too.

PLASTIC AND GLASS BUTTON

These buttons are quite unusual being made of plastic and incorporating a white glass disc in the centre. It has a leafy design in gold lustre. They measure just under 3 1/2cm so are a reasonable size.

GAY NINETIES BUTTON

This Gay Nineties button is very chunky and not very feminine. Maybe it was worn on a gentleman’s coat in the 1890’s ! The cut glass stone is an amber colour and the brass is pressed into a flowery design. It has a japanned tin back and loop shank.

OPP SHOP FIND

Even though it is only plastic I find this button very striking with the black design on a cream ground. It has a loop shank. The buttons of today are so different to those of the early 1900’s (just another sign of the times, or does that make me sound old!! )

OPP SHOP FINDS

These three buttons are all 2018 Opp Shop finds. Two are flat sew through types and the third one is a domed plastic button with a loop shank. They may be plain but are still part of button history.

PLASTIC BUCKLES

Here are three identical red plastic buckles. They have some carving on them taking the plain look away and are in the shape of a leaf. How jazzy are they!
