How about another change from buttons. I made this scissor case many years ago. I did a lot of stitchery back then before my button collecting days which started in 2001.
EMBROIDERED SCISSOR CASE
ART NOUVEAU BUTTONS
These buttons are really much prettier than the photo shows. They have a sort of Art Nouveau design in blue and cream on a black background. It is outlined in gold and is set in tin. The cream border sets the whole design off contrasting nicely with the black.
DIMINUTIVE BLACK GLASS BUTTONS
These diminutive buttons are of black glass and are diamond shaped. They are decorated with incised lines painted white which are very showy. They are new to my collection.
ART DECO BUCKLE
This is only a small buckle at 3 1/2cm X 2 1/2cm. It is made of brass with a little enamelling to embellish it. It is very delicate so would only be used on a very fine material belt.
OPP SHOP FINDS
These modern plastic flower shaped buttons have a rainbow coloured stripe through the thread groove which gives them an iridescent effect. They are quite different. They are from my 2018 Opp shop finds box.
GLASS BUTTONS
These buttons are small at 1 cm in diameter. They are a royal blue with some lines around the edge in a silver lustre. I think they are pleasing in their simplicity.
OPP SHOP FINDS
These buttons are also Opp shop finds and are metalized plastic with burgandy enamelling which is quite showy although plain.
GLASS BUTTONS
Here is a group of clear cut glass buttons in a lovely mauve colour. They really sparkle in the light. I have other buttons of this design in different colours. They would look really nice on the appropriate fabric.
GAY NINETIES BUTTON
Here is yet another Gay Nineties button. It is not so large at 2 1/2cm. It is highly domed in a coarse kind of metal filigree work, I show several views. The stone is a brilliant green.
OPP SHOP FINDS
I like these white metal buttons as they have a handmade look about them. The artistic cut out design is sort of abstract and they are not completely circular.
