Buttonsplus

This black glass button is in the shape of a box which is quite different. It is decorated with circles of silver lustre. I guess it might be from the 1930’s – 40’s.

I have just acquired this button being a gift from my friend Suzanne. It features a yacht in sail and has a rope like border. It was rather worn so I rubbed some brown nugget into it.

I have just recently bought these window buttons in their packet in an opp shop in Tatura. They were made especially to put a photo, material or the likes into the base and then snap in the clear plastic top. I did some zentangle designs on paper for them and they came up quite nicely.

My friend Jackie just gave me this button yesterday. It is of resin and is a realistic bear in a traditional Scotch kilt and tam-o-shanter. Jackie was a highland dancer so this means a lot to her and I was thrilled to get it. It is really cute and a bit of fun.

Here are four different coloured buttons of the same flower like design. I got them in an opp shop in 2018. They are of some type of plastic. (Maybe acrylic!!)

This button is of yellow plastic and has three large flowers rather crudely painted on it. I wonder if someone has just tried to paint it at home. It is bright and colourful anyway.

I think this fabric covered button is real cute. It shows a couple of Japanese Geisha girl dolls in nice colours. It measures just under 3 cm.

Here are three small metal buttons each decorated with Cut Steels. They measure approximately 1 1/4cm.

Here are five realistic wooden butterfly buttons. They have just been given to me by my friend Jackie. I guess they are more for a craft project than an item of clothing. They are bright and colourful anyway.

Here are three more Opp Shop finds from 2018 quite different in style. One is metalized plastic with a basketweave type centre. The cream one with the intricate design may have been lazer cut (Guess only) The last one is of a copper brown with a silver metallic stripe through it. It looks more showy in reality. They are so different to buttons of several decades ago.
